About

Hi, I’m Job, the admin of this little corner of the internet. I’ve done some exciting things—like earning a Ph.D. in chemistry—and been to some interesting places, like trekking on a crazy steep limestone mountain in the Thai outback. But one dream has been with me for too long a time: being able to code and make fun stuff move around on a screen. So here I am.

As a kid of the 80s, I came across the legendary Game Boy and instantly fell in love. I couldn’t afford one back then, but these days I’ve got a few vintage consoles of my own. In a way, I’m finally living the childhood I once only dreamed of.

When I discovered GBDK (Game Boy Development Kit)—a C library lovingly maintained by generous folks—I knew I had to try my hand at making games for my beloved Game Boy. That’s what this blog is about: sharing the journey, the experiments, and the fun.

I’ve always loved observing nature as a scientist, but coding games has shown me that building little worlds on a screen can be just as rewarding—and it’s one of the best ways I’ve found to truly learn programming, even in the age of AI.

I won’t just stick to the Game Boy forever, but that’s where I’m starting. I’ll be having fun, and I hope anyone reading this will too.

Catch you around,
